چکیده

We investigate a Web information structuring mechanism called lightweight deductive databases. Lightweight deductive databases enable more sophisticated automated searching, extraction, and processing, and can facilitate agent-based programming. We also explore how these deductive databases bene t from being distributed on the Web.

LogicWeb: Enhancing the Web with Logic Programming

LogicWeb is a client-side logic programming tool for the World Wide Web, which allows the Web to be viewed in a more abstract way: Web pages can be rephrased as logic programming modules, and hypertext links as relationships between the modules. This abstraction makes LogicWeb particularly suitable for coding important classes of applications, and this paper considers two in some detail: Web se...

Lightweight Databases

Current World Wide Web technologies concentrate on presenting documents to human readers. Although HTML identifies structures within a document, it does not allow the semantic content of document sections to be specified explicitly. We investigate a small extension to HTML which allows parts of a document to be mapped onto an underlying database schema. This allows automatic identification and ...

Towards Improving Automation in the World Wide Web

Much current work on World Wide Web (WWW) concentrates on improving the presentation of documents. There is also a complementary need to search for information according to complex criteria, and to extract information automatically from pages. We describe lightweight databases, an experiment in adding semantic mark-up to web pages, and show how the technique can be used to provide limited-perfo...

Logic Databases and Inconsistency Handling

Nowadays, data management on the World Wide Web needs to consider very large knowledge databases (KDB). The larger is a KDB, the smaller the possibility of being consistent. Consistency in checking algorithms and systems fails to analyse very large KDBs, and so many have to work every day with inconsistent information. Database revision—transformation of the KDB into another, consistent databas...
